Open Door Mission
Working to End Homelessness and Poverty
The Open Door Mission is a Christian Rescue Mission founded on the belief that with proper resources, hope can be restored, and lives of impoverished men, women, and children of Rochester, NY could be forever changed.
At any one time, there are 40-50 men and women living at the Mission. These are men and women who have found themselves temporarily homeless, often through no fault of their own.
Ridgeland Community Church serves those individuals in the following way:
On the third Thursday of every month, volunteers arrive at the Mission around 6:00am, and prepare a hot breakfast to those men and women who are living at the Mission.
While this originally began as an initiative of the men’s ministry, anyone can become involved in one of the following ways:
- Ask to be involved in the serving team.
- Support the purchase of supplies (memo your check “Open Door Breakfast”).
- Baking muffins or pastries to be served (requires enough for 50 servings).
